Jaycees Bring Easter Egg Hunt in a Virtual Way

I just saw a meme that sums up this time in our lives perfectly:

"I've never thought I'd be giving this much up for Lent"

Truer words couldn't be spoken about this unprecedented time in our history. Kids and teachers are missing school as parents are now homeschooling (that's not easy), restaurants have shut down their in-dining options, sports are done until further notice and certain businesses such as gyms and salons have closed their doors, much to the chagrin of those who utilize them.

This quarantine also halted all Easter related activities, including annual Easter Egg hunts that are held throughout our local community. That is why the DuBois Jaycees wanted to bring some 'sunshine' and smiles to the children of our area while still keeping the safety and well-being of everyone at the forefront of our mission.

For the first time in their history, the DuBois Jaycees did an online form where people could enter their kids to win bikes and gift baskets. Using the website, Wheelofnames.com, winners were drawn randomly and listed on our Facebook page, as well as below.

The DuBois Jaycees also offered a drive-thru for Easter Egg bags on Easter Sunday, April 12th from 3PM-5PM by Juniata Elementary school. Jaycee members prepared the bags of Easter Eggs, wore masks and helped give out the eggs that were meant to be picked up at the hunt this year. The Easter bunny also made an appearance to help bring cheer and some normalcy to the youth of our area.

The Jaycees wanted to thank everyone who helped make this event happen, including our membership and board, along with the supportive community who took part in this long-standing tradition for our Chapter.

We hope that in 2021 we are back to the normal setup for the kids, as we truly do miss seeing their excitement at this annual and beloved event.

Be well and stay safe!
